Weekend Food Pack Program
Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes began providing weekend food packs to students in 2005 as a partnership with Communities in Schools of Kalamazoo. KLF provides up to 650 food packs per week during the school year and summer school.
Participating children receive a pack of kid-friendly food on Friday. Each pack contains a selection of food items to help with breakfast and lunch during the weekend when school meals are not available.
KLF partners with schools in Kalamazoo, Comstock, Parchment, and Climax-Scotts Public Schools. To see if your school participates or to enroll, please contact the Communities in Schools or Counseling office in your school building. KLF also provides support to Generous Hands who provides packs to Vicksburg Public Schools.
School-Based Pantries
KLF's school-based pantries provide additional access points for students and families facing food insecurity. School-based pantries are designed to help children, teens, and families with food in a variety of ways, including snacks, single food items, emergency packs, and full food orders.
You do not need to make an appointment with KLF to utilize these pantries. A student can access the pantry without a parent or guardian present but must adhere to any guidelines set by the school building. KLF works with Communities in Schools (CIS) to operate these pantries - please visit the CIS office

KLF currently has pantries in Kalamazoo Central High School, Loy Norrix High School, Phoenix High School, Maple Street School for the Arts, Hillside Middle School, Linden Grove Middle School, Milwood Middle School, Woodward School for Research and Technology, Northeastern Elementary, Washington Writer's Academy, Spring Valley Center for Exploration, and Lincoln School for International Studies.
